Ukraine has survived its most challenging winter of the war, preserving its energy system despite massive Russian bombardments. At the same time, the situation in the Middle East demonstrates that no absolute defense against ballistic missiles exists, and the Iranian regime—which supplied Russia with weapons—is now facing justice.
As reported by "Hvylya", President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in his address on the 1,467th day of the war.
The Head of State noted that the Russians sought to use freezing temperatures as a weapon to destroy Ukrainians, but this plan failed.
"Today is a day when everyone can fairly say: we have made it through this winter. Ukraine repelled a huge number of massive strikes this winter, where a single attack involved dozens of missiles and hundreds of 'Shaheds.' No nation has gone through such trials," the President emphasized.
Zelensky recalled that over 700 missiles of various types were launched at Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to air defense forces, energy workers, rescue teams, and businesses that managed to adapt to wartime conditions.
However, the President warned that it is too early to relax: intelligence reports indicate Russia is preparing new attacks on infrastructure. He urged air defenders to remain as focused in the spring as they were in winter.
Separately, Zelensky drew parallels with events in the Middle East, noting that even Gulf nations with powerful air defense systems cannot intercept every ballistic missile.
"We are currently recording every change in the situation surrounding Iran in detail. This regime, which killed tens of thousands of its own citizens in just the last few months, which has always supported and organized wars in the region, and which gave Russia 'Shaheds' and the technology for their production—this regime has determined the attitude toward itself," Zelensky underscored.
He added that the world must use the chance for change in Iran correctly by supporting the people, not violence. Furthermore, the President addressed Russia, calling on it to end the war through diplomatic means.
"Russia must end its war against Ukraine, end it with dignity; diplomacy has the power to ensure this," the Head of State concluded.
