Russian Shahed-type loitering munitions have begun functioning as "motherships" for FPV strike drones, creating significant new tactical challenges on the battlefield.
Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, reported the escalation in enemy tactics. According to Beskrestnov, the first video evidence has surfaced confirming that a single Shahed drone is capable of transporting two FPV units simultaneously. This follows earlier reports of factory-made mounts for FPV drones discovered on Russian "Molniya" and "Gerbera" UAVs.
"I recently noted that factory mounts for carrying FPVs on the Molniya and Gerbera were a bad sign. Today, I have the first video confirmation of FPV transport on a Shahed. We now know the Shahed carries two FPVs," Beskrestnov stated.
The expert issued an urgent advisory to all anti-aircraft drone crews to remain vigilant for the presence of secondary FPV units when intercepting Shahed targets. He emphasized that Hvylya and other defense monitoring units must account for these new risks when planning combat operations across all branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
