Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has banned the US military from using local bases to launch strikes against targets in Iran, Hvylya reports, citing The Daily Star.

According to FlightRadar24 tracking data, 15 US aircraft have departed the Rota and Morón bases in southern Spain since the beginning of US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory. At least seven of these aircraft have reportedly been redeployed to the Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares explained that Madrid will not permit facilities under Spanish sovereignty to be used for operations it has condemned. "Spanish bases are not involved in this mission. They will not be used for actions that fall outside the scope of bilateral agreements with the US or that contradict the UN Charter," the diplomat emphasized.

Defense Minister Margarita Robles added that the departing US aircraft, primarily Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker aerial refuelers, had been stationed in the country on a permanent basis.
