US President Donald Trump has announced the blacklisting of Anthropic by the federal government. This decision marks the culmination of an escalating conflict between the White House and the artificial intelligence developer regarding national security imperatives and ethical restrictions on AI.

The rupture in relations was precipitated by Anthropic's refusal to lift safeguards on its Claude model for military applications. The Pentagon had demanded the removal of restrictions related to mass domestic surveillance and the development of autonomous weapons capable of firing without human intervention.

On his Truth Social platform, Donald Trump unleashed an angry tirade against the company, labeling its leadership "left-wing lunatics."

"The United States of America will never allow a Radical Left, Woke Company to dictate how our Great Military fights and wins Wars! That decision belongs to your Commander-in-Chief," Trump declared.

He added that Anthropic made a "catastrophic mistake" by attempting to "strong-arm the Department of War" and force the military to adhere to the company's terms of service rather than the US Constitution.

"I am hereby directing every Federal Agency within the United States Government to immediately cease and desist from any and all use of Anthropic technology. We don't need them, we don't want them, and we will no longer do business with them!" the President emphasized.

According to sources, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had set a deadline for an agreement at 5:01 PM, but no deal was reached. Consequently, Anthropic will be designated a "supply chain risk"—a label typically reserved for companies from hostile nations, such as China's Huawei.

The decision carries serious consequences:

- The Pentagon will terminate a contract worth up to $200 million.

- A six-month transition period will be established to replace Claude with alternative solutions.

- Contractors, such as Palantir, will be compelled to discontinue using Claude for government work.

The situation is complicated by the fact that Claude is currently the only AI model cleared for use in classified military systems. Notably, it was utilized in the operation to capture Nicolas Maduro. Defense officials have acknowledged that replacing the model will be a complex process, as the military has already adapted to its capabilities.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei had previously rejected the Pentagon's "best and final offer," stating that the company "cannot in good conscience agree to their demands."

Amid this scandal, Elon Musk and his company xAI have already signed an agreement to approve the Grok model for classified systems. Negotiations regarding the use of Google's Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT in the classified space have also accelerated.
