President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine received more than ten NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems thanks to the efforts of Norway. He also disclosed details regarding political pressure from partners during the preparation of a UN peace resolution.
According to "Hvylya," the President made these remarks in an interview with the Norwegian media outlet NRK News.
The President noted that Norway not only supplied launchers and missiles of its own production but also negotiated with other countries for additional ammunition for Ukrainian air defense at a political level when its own stockpiles were depleted. During the winter, Oslo assisted Ukraine with critical gas supplies following massive Russian attacks on gas and energy infrastructure.
"In parallel, we worked on joint production and IRIS-T systems. It was like a wave: when one country stepped up, other true allies, like Norway, also joined in. This was very effective. This past winter, Norway also helped us with the gas we needed after Russian strikes on energy, specifically on our gas infrastructure," the Ukrainian leader said.
Zelensky highly praised the Norwegian government's contribution to joint weapons production, drone procurement, and the funding of the PURL initiative, where the country ranks second in terms of contributions. He emphasized that the 100% unity among all parties in the Norwegian parliament is of immense importance to Kyiv.
During the conversation, the President also addressed the diplomatic struggle on the international stage. He spoke about attempts by some allies to halt work on the UN General Assembly resolution "Supporting a Lasting Peace in Ukraine" and to soften its text.
"Then various partners offered us a text of the resolution without two words: "Russian aggression." I said: "No, it is Russian aggression." If we do not include these words, people will forget about it in two or three years," Zelensky stated.
Ultimately, the document received support from 107 countries, exceeding initial analytical forecasts of 80 votes.
