An armed man was shot and killed by US Secret Service agents after attempting to breach the secure perimeter of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
As reported by Hvylya, the incident was confirmed by The Guardian.
The confrontation occurred on the morning of February 22. An unidentified intruder was spotted near the north gate of the president's estate. Agents discovered he was carrying an object resembling a shotgun as well as a canister of fuel.
"The suspect was shot by Secret Service personnel and a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy," the report states. Law enforcement officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
Officials confirmed there was never a direct threat to the president, who was in a different city at the time.
"At the time of the incident, Donald Trump was at the White House in Washington and was not present at his Florida residence," the statement clarified.
Law enforcement authorities have pledged to release further details once the investigation into the circumstances is complete.
It was previously reported that Trump announced an immediate increase in global tariffs to 15%.
