Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the return of 157 Ukrainians from Russian captivity. Among the liberated are defenders who had been held in captivity for nearly four years.
The Head of State spoke about this in his evening address on February 5.
According to the President, the exchange process has been unblocked following a long pause. The Ukrainian side continues working to return all military personnel and civilians, verifying information regarding every single name.
"Among the guys returned today are those who were in captivity for nearly four years. It is extremely long and difficult, given all the Russian cruelty. I am happy for the families, for the relatives, for the comrades who waited for their own," Zelensky emphasized.
The President paid special attention to the diplomatic track. The Ukrainian negotiating team reported on the results of the meetings in the UAE with representatives from the U.S. and Russia. Zelensky announced that the next rounds of talks will likely take place in America. He stressed that the war's conclusion must not include any rewards for the aggressor.
The Head of State also noted successful actions by the Ukrainian military and special services. Major General Khmara reported on new SBU operations, confirming that the military had struck a Russian training ground.
"I want to thank them for the ability to reach even such targets as the training ground for launching 'Oreshniks.' Our 'Flamingos' have done their job," the President stated.
Despite difficult weather conditions in January, the Defense Forces held their positions and inflicted significant losses on the enemy. According to the President, the occupiers lost 35,000 men killed and severely wounded in December, and another 30,000 in January.
Additionally, Zelensky announced important agreements with partners. During the visit of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, joint drone production was agreed upon, while Sweden will provide a new energy package worth $100 million.
