National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Rustem Umerov has announced the conclusion of the second round of trilateral peace talks held on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi. Delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia participated in the meeting, which was mediated by the United Arab Emirates.

A key breakthrough in the dialogue was an agreement to unblock the prisoner release process. The parties agreed on a mutual exchange of 157 prisoners of war. This marks the first operation of its kind in five months.

"The discussions were constructive and focused on ways to create conditions for achieving a lasting peace," Umerov noted in his report.

Beyond the humanitarian track, participants discussed methods for implementing a truce and mechanisms to monitor a full cessation of hostilities. Delegations have now paused to consult with their respective leaderships but agreed to resume trilateral meetings in the coming weeks.

The NSDC Secretary also highlighted the role of the United States in the process.

"Ukraine is grateful to President Donald Trump for his leadership in advancing efforts aimed at ending the war," the official emphasized.
