Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said negotiators discussing a US-mediated peace initiative remain divided on the issue of territory.

According to Hvylya, he stated this in an interview with Bloomberg.

Zelensky noted that elements of the American plan require further discussion on a number of "sensitive issues," including security guarantees for Ukraine and control over the country's eastern regions. The Ukrainian leader reported that no agreement has yet been reached on the Donbas during the negotiations.

"There is the vision of the US, Russia, and Ukraine—and we don't have a unified position on the Donbas," the president said.

He added that Ukraine insists on a separate security guarantee agreement from Western allies, primarily the United States.

Zelensky spoke after Trump criticized him—contrasting with his recent comments on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's reaction to the proposal—stating that he was "a little disappointed that President Zelenskyy has not yet looked at the proposal."

"There is one question that I—and all Ukrainians—want answered: if Russia starts the war again, what will our partners do?" the leader of Ukraine said.
