The United States and its European allies are prepared to enter the war on Ukraine's side within 72 hours in the event of a fresh Russian invasion. Sources revealed these details of the draft security guarantees to the Financial Times.

The response plan consists of three distinct stages.

The first stage is activated within 24 hours of a violation being detected. It involves an immediate diplomatic warning to the aggressor while the Armed Forces of Ukraine hold off the offensive on the ground.

If hostilities continue, the second stage begins: the engagement of a so-called "coalition of the willing." This would include EU countries, the UK, Norway, Iceland, and Turkey.

The third and most radical stage comes into effect after 72 hours in the event of escalation. It envisages a joint military response by the EU and the United States, involving the direct participation of American troops.

The readiness of the UK and France to deploy troops and weaponry to Ukraine under these agreements is specifically noted. Following a ceasefire, European partners would be tasked with deterring the enemy on land, at sea, and in the air, with support from Washington. The US, for its part, proposes providing high-tech surveillance equipment to monitor the 1,400 km frontline.

Russia has already rejected these proposals. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, stated that "guarantees must be for both Russia and Ukraine, otherwise they won't work."

Earlier, Putin's office confirmed a new round of talks and responded to Zelensky's invitation.
