As of March 10, 2026, the Strait of Hormuz is effectively closed to most shipping traffic amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Over the past 24 hours, not a single vessel has entered the Persian Gulf. Only a handful of ships, primarily those linked to Iran, have managed to exit. Commercial vessels remain halted on both sides of the strait due to the severe threat of missile and drone attacks.
"Today will be the most intensive day of strikes on Iran," Hegseth announced during a press briefing at the Pentagon.
"The most fighters, the most bombers, the most strikes! Intelligence is more advanced and better than ever!" he stated.
