A new round of US-initiated talks on Ukraine scheduled for this week has been postponed due to the escalating conflict involving Iran.
As reported by Hvylya, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the decision on his Telegram channel.
The president noted that the security situation in the Middle East has now become the top priority for Western partners.
"Currently, our partners' priority and undivided attention are focused on the situation around Iran. Consequently, the meeting proposed by the American side for this week is being postponed," Zelensky stated.
He emphasized that Ukraine remains ready to meet at any moment. However, he warned of Russia's attempts to exploit the Middle East crisis, noting that Moscow seeks to turn the Iranian regime's strikes into a "second front" in its war against Ukraine and the broader West.
Zelensky also announced a meeting of the military command to discuss risks to global markets and key partners. Ukraine has reportedly received 11 requests from countries neighboring Iran, European nations, and the US for assistance in countering "Shahed" drones.
Kyiv has already made concrete decisions and is deploying specialists to help protect civilians and allied military bases by sharing its extensive experience in intercepting enemy drones.
