Ukraine is launching a mandatory verification procedure for Starlink satellite terminals. A so-called "whitelist" of authorized devices is coming into effect across the country.
According to Hvylya, the Ministry of Defense announced the move.
The measure comes in response to Russian forces using commercial terminals to pilot drones and terrorize civilians. The rules are strict: soon, only registered and verified devices will function in Ukraine. All other terminals will be disconnected.
Additionally, technical restrictions are being introduced.
"Authorized terminals will operate only in stationary mode and at low speeds while in motion," the ministry noted.
To avoid losing connectivity, owners must complete the verification process. Two key codes are required: the KIT number and the UTID.
The Ministry of Defense explained where to find them:
- The KIT number is located on the box's shipping label (the format looks like KIT00000000).
- The UTID (unique identifier) can be found via the mobile app.
To obtain the UTID, connect to the Starlink network, open the app, tap "Menu" in the top left corner, scroll down, and tap the "i" information icon.
"In the Starlink section, find the Starlink ID/Terminal ID. Disregard the 'ut' letters at the beginning," specialists specified.
It was previously reported that standard Starlink terminals can be used by Russian forces.
