Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported tragic consequences of a Russian attack in the Dnipro region and announced a pivotal round of negotiations set to take place next week in the United Arab Emirates.
The head of state shared these details during his evening address on February 1, according to "Hvylya".
According to the President, an enemy drone struck a civilian bus carrying miners in the town of Ternivka, Pavlohrad district. The attack resulted in both fatalities and injuries.
"Today's Russian strike on a bus in the Dnipro region is a crime—a demonstrative crime that proves once again that Russia alone is responsible for the escalation. Evil must be stopped," Zelensky emphasized.
In addition to targeting civilians, the enemy attacked logistics and energy infrastructure. Power outages were recorded in Nikopol and Marhanets due to damaged lines. Railway infrastructure in the Dnipro region and in Konotop, Sumy region, also came under fire. Railway workers are already working to restore connections between the regions.
The President drew particular attention to the critical heating situation in Kyiv. According to his data, more than 500 apartment buildings in the capital remain without heat. Zelensky harshly criticized the city authorities' performance, noting that repair work is taking far too long.
"This certainly cannot be accepted as normal in a city where, for weeks now, the number of houses without heat—every single day, regardless of the situation—is in the hundreds. Whether there are strikes or not, hundreds of homes in Kyiv are still without heating. This means the work being done in the city is insufficient," he stated.
On the diplomatic front, Ukraine is preparing for a trilateral meeting to be held in the Emirates on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. The Ukrainian delegation will depart for the talks on Monday evening. The President held discussions with Rustem Umerov and scheduled a meeting to finalize the framework for the dialogue.
"We expect the American side to be equally active, particularly regarding de-escalation measures—the reduction of strikes," the head of state added.
In the Kyiv region, a program providing thermal kits has been deployed to support the population, with approximately 5,000 people receiving them daily. Due to the heating crisis in the capital, additional warming centers providing hot meals are being established.
