Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has issued his sharpest threat against Washington in recent memory, warning that any US military aggression would instantly escalate into a full-scale regional conflict.
According to AP, as reported by "Hvylya", the Ayatollah’s statement comes amid a dramatic escalation in tensions. US President Donald Trump has deployed a carrier strike group, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln, to the Arabian Sea.
The 86-year-old Iranian leader remained defiant in his rhetoric.
"The Americans must know that if they start a war, this time it will be a regional war," Khamenei stated. "We are not the initiators and do not seek to attack any country. However, the Iranian people will deliver a decisive blow to anyone who attacks them."
According to Western media reports, the White House is indeed considering military scenarios. Donald Trump has instructed his team to develop options for "fast and decisive strikes" designed to avoid a prolonged campaign.
The New York Times reports that Iran's nuclear facilities are being considered as priority targets. Possible options include a precision raid by special forces to physically destroy these sites.
