Russian forces are attempting to resolve communication issues on the frontline and have begun receiving new "Spirit-030" satellite terminals en masse. These devices are intended to replace their lost access to Starlink systems.
As reported by Hvylya, this was announced by Serhiy Beskrestnov (call sign "Flash"), an advisor to Ukraine's Defense Minister and a radio technology expert.
According to Beskrestnov, after the Russian military was disconnected from the American Starlink network, satellite internet access became a critical issue. Older Russian terminals featured massive antennas, making them easy targets for Ukrainian drones to locate and destroy.
"That is why Spirit-030 satellite terminals have started arriving at the front. It is practically the same satellite internet terminal, but designed to be portable," the expert explained.
The new device operates via a dedicated geostationary satellite. Its main advantage for the enemy is its compact size. The antenna diameter is only 30 centimeters instead of the usual 90, making it significantly harder to detect Russian positions.
However, Ukrainian defenders have already begun destroying the Spirit systems. The first such dish was detected and burned by pilots from the 414th Unmanned Strike Systems Battalion, known as "Magyar Birds." Beskrestnov urged all drone operators to pay close attention to this new target.
