Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated his readiness to meet with US President Donald Trump, but emphasized that it depends on the results of the American delegation's negotiations in Moscow.
Zelensky announced this during a joint press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin in Dublin on December 2.
According to the president, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner are holding a meeting with Putin, and Ukraine expects signals from them immediately after the negotiations conclude.
"They want to report immediately after their meeting, specifically to us. I think the future and next steps depend on what these signals will be. If the signals are such that they enable quick solutions, then there will be a higher level," Zelensky said.
The president added that steps will change "even hourly" depending on the results of the Moscow negotiations.
According to Axios journalist Barak Ravid, after the meeting with Putin, Witkoff and Kushner will travel to one of the European countries for negotiations with Zelensky.
At the same time, the president reported that the Ukrainian and American delegations have developed 20 points of a peace plan — first in Geneva, then refined in Florida. However, some things still require additional work.
"There will be no simple solutions. The question is not about the difficulty of making them. I am capable of making decisions — it's important that they be fair," Zelensky emphasized.
He also noted that the war must be ended in such a way that Russia does not return with a new invasion in a year, because such a threat is real.
During the visit to Ireland, it was announced that Ukraine would receive 100 million euros in non-lethal military aid and 25 million euros to support the energy system.
Ireland's total assistance to Ukraine has already exceeded 340 million euros. The parties also signed a roadmap for cooperation until 2030.
