US President Donald Trump believes the war against Iran is "very close to complete," with Washington moving significantly ahead of its initial military schedule.

As reported by Hvylya, Reuters shared this information citing the American leader's interview with CBS News.

According to Trump, military objectives are being achieved faster than expected, as the initial plan allocated four to five weeks for the operation. "I think the war is almost complete. They have no navy, no communications, no air force," the US president emphasized.

When asked about the Strait of Hormuz, which facilitates about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies, Trump noted that vessels are currently moving, but he is "thinking about taking it over." At present, this critically important shipping lane is effectively blocked due to the hostilities.

Commenting on the appointment of Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ali Khamenei who was killed during US strikes, Trump stated: "I have no message for him." He added that he already has a candidate in mind to lead Iran but declined to reveal further details.

US and Israeli strikes on Iran began on February 28. In response, Tehran attacked Israel and Gulf countries hosting American military bases.
