Home to millions, the Iranian capital has become the center of a campaign by the United States and Israel targeting intelligence hubs, police stations, and state media outlets. However, an investigation of verified video footage and satellite imagery reveals that the consequences of these strikes extend far beyond military targets due to the city's dense urban environment and the use of high-yield weaponry.
The scale of destruction in Tehran is significant. Analysts have identified impact craters measuring at least 40 feet in diameter, a size consistent with the use of 2000-pound bombs. One such strike at the IRIB television complex completely destroyed a major communication mast belonging to Iran's state broadcaster. The munitions deployed in these operations possess a lethal radius capable of killing or wounding individuals more than 1,000 feet from the point of impact.
Medical facilities have been severely affected. Gandhi Hospital sits just 100 feet from a confirmed blast site; footage from the scene shows shattered windows, collapsed walls, and the urgent evacuation of patients, including infants. Similarly, satellite imagery of the area surrounding Motahari Hospital shows that adjacent buildings have been entirely leveled, with the hospital itself sustaining serious structural damage. Other affected sites include Hatam Hospital and facilities belonging to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
The campaign has also struck targets in other regions. In the city of Bushehr, verified video shows newborns being carried through rubble at the Persian Gulf Hospital. While the specific target of that strike remains unclear, the facility is located near a local airport and a military base. In southern Iran, the Shajareh Tayebeh elementary school took a direct hit. According to Iranian state media, over 160 students and staff members were killed in the blast, which occurred approximately 200 feet from a military installation. In Fars province, a strike hit a gymnasium where 20 volleyball players were present; the site is situated next to a police station.
While neither the United States nor Israel has officially claimed responsibility for these specific strikes, human rights activists report that the death toll has already surpassed 1,000 people.
