Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has disclosed the actual performance metrics of Ukraine's air defense system and announced significant structural changes. According to the General, the system has intercepted approximately 74% of enemy targets over the last two years.
As reported by "Hvylya", Syrskyi shared these updates on his Facebook page, noting that air defenses operate under extreme conditions. The enemy launches between 100 and 200 Shahed-type strike drones at Ukraine daily, periodically combining them with massive missile strikes.
"In such conditions, the system's resilience depends on many factors. Specifically, the rhythmic supply of munitions, technological advancement, effective personnel and management decisions, the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges, and the rejection of outdated bureaucratic practices," Syrskyi emphasized.
Defensive tactics remain heavily weather-dependent. During difficult meteorological conditions, anti-aircraft missile forces bear the primary burden. When weather permits, aviation, helicopters, and interceptor drones actively participate in repelling attacks.
The military is currently undergoing a series of organizational measures to bolster airspace protection. This includes a planned redistribution of functions between anti-aircraft missile forces and a new branch of the military specifically responsible for protecting critical infrastructure.
Furthermore, Syrskyi announced an increase in the number and quality of interceptor drones and confirmed ongoing active negotiations with partners to address the missile shortage.
