Approximately 50 French vessels are currently blocked in the Persian Gulf, with another eight held in the Red Sea, French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot announced on Friday. Paris is now actively seeking allies to form a coalition aimed at ensuring the safety of navigation in the region.

"In the Persian Gulf, there are about fifty vessels—52 to be precise—and eight in the Red Sea. We are maintaining constant contact with the crews, as many of them have French sailors on board," Tabarot stated during an appearance on CNews/Europe 1.
