Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has commented on a Bloomberg report regarding the possible resumption of cooperation between Moscow and Washington. The Kremlin addressed points concerning joint energy projects and a return to dollar-based settlements.
According to Peskov, the released details of a "peace plan," which allegedly includes Moscow's proposals, contain "fairly obvious things." This refers to the creation of joint ventures for oil and liquefied natural gas extraction, particularly in the Arctic, as well as preferential conditions for American businesses returning to the Russian market.
"Of course, we offer cooperation. Of course, companies from both countries are potentially interested in this. There you have your joint ventures. Of course, there are American companies that want to return to the Russian market," Peskov stated.
The Kremlin also addressed currency policy. Peskov claimed that Russia did not voluntarily abandon the dollar, arguing that the shift to alternative payment methods was a consequence of US sanctions.
"These countries naturally use alternative payments. If the US abandons this practice of restricting dollar use, then the dollar will have to compete with other alternative currencies and national currencies, which are increasingly used globally," he noted.
Peskov concluded that Russia is prepared to return to using the US currency "if it is attractive."
