Old Schedules Scrapped: YASNO Sets Out Harsh New Power Cut Limits

The capital is currently operating under emergency power outages, with electricity available for approximately three hours followed by ten hours without. The situation varies depending on the district.

YASNO CEO Sergey Kovalenko announced the update on the evening of January 18.

According to Kovalenko, there is a high incidence of accidents within residential buildings. These issues often stem from local networks and property management (ZhEK/HOA). The protocol for suspected emergencies is to first contact the housing management; an electrician will inspect the issue and fix it if the problem is internal, or submit a request if it involves the external grid.

Dnipro and the surrounding region are adhering to a schedule, but the situation in the energy system has shifted. While exceeding four "queues" (consumer groups) previously meant emergency outages, the country is now transitioning to schedules involving 4.5 to 5 groups.

"Maximum intervals of seven hours without power and 3.5 hours with power are no longer relevant. The schedule of probable outages is outdated. With restrictions affecting five out of six groups, outages can last more than 16 hours. This is the current reality," Kovalenko wrote.

He noted that even such a rigid schedule is preferable to total unpredictability, as it provides some benchmarks. Regarding improvements, the country needs to get through the severe frost; consumption should decrease as temperatures rise. The key variable remains attacks on energy infrastructure, which are impossible to forecast.
