SpaceX founder Elon Musk lashed out at Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski after the diplomat urged him to restrict Russian access to the Starlink system. Sikorski requested the businessman intervene following reports that satellite terminals were discovered in Russian strike drones.
According to "Hvylya", the exchange unfolded on the social media platform X.
The conflict began with Sikorski's appeal, which addressed information regarding the Russian military's use of SpaceX technology. The head of Polish diplomacy warned the billionaire of potential reputational risks.
"Hey buddy Elon Musk, why don’t you stop the Russians from using Starlink to attack Ukrainian cities? Making money on war crimes might hurt your brand," Sikorski wrote.
Musk's reaction was immediate and aggressive. Instead of addressing the technical concerns, he resorted to personal insults.
"This drooling imbecile doesn’t even realize that Starlink is the backbone of Ukraine’s military communications," the American businessman stated.
Sikorski's public appeal was prompted by recent findings from Ukrainian specialists. An integrated Starlink terminal was discovered aboard a downed Russian BM-35 drone. This represents a critical upgrade: satellite communication allows Russian forces to control drones in real-time over vast distances and renders the aircraft nearly invulnerable to standard electronic warfare measures.
