Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed agreements to halt Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities during the current extreme cold spell. The President thanked Donald Trump for his mediation efforts.

Zelensky posted the corresponding statement on social media platform X (Twitter).

The President called the message from the White House a vital signal for the security of Kyiv and other regions during this critical period of severe weather. He also confirmed that the issue was discussed by delegations during a recent meeting in the UAE.

"An important statement by President Trump regarding the possibility of securing Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities from Russian strikes during this winter freeze. Energy is the foundation of life, and we appreciate our partners' efforts to help us protect lives. Thank you, President Trump! The teams discussed this in the Emirates," Zelensky emphasized.

The Ukrainian leader expressed hope that the Russian side would honor the pledge given to the American President.

"We expect the agreements to be implemented. De-escalatory steps contribute to real progress toward ending the war," the Head of State concluded.

Earlier, Donald Trump stated that he had personally asked Vladimir Putin not to strike Kyiv and other cities for a week while the severe freeze continues, securing the Kremlin's agreement.
