Russia has intensified its assault on Ukraine’s energy system, attempting to leave the population without heat during a period of severe frost. The past week alone has seen six separate attacks on gas infrastructure, Hvylya reports, citing Naftogaz CEO Sergiy Koretsky.

According to Koretsky, Russian forces are cynically exploiting weather conditions by timing strikes to coincide with peak system loads. The latest attack occurred overnight, targeting equipment vital for natural gas extraction.

"Just this week, the enemy attacked Naftogaz Group facilities six times. Tonight saw another strike on equipment ensuring natural gas production. Fortunately, there are no casualties," Koretsky stated on Facebook.

Specialists are currently on site assessing the damage. While Naftogaz noted that persistent shelling has forced Ukraine to increase gas imports, emergency crews are working around the clock to maintain stability.

"Exploiting abnormal weather conditions, the enemy is intensifying strikes on civilian infrastructure, attempting to deprive us of heat and create unbearable living conditions," the Naftogaz chief added.

The company also categorically denied rumors suggesting the introduction of scheduled gas shutoffs. False reports alleging supply restrictions in the Khmelnytskyi region had circulated online, causing panic.

"There are no restrictions—neither in Khmelnytskyi nor in any other region of the country—and none are foreseen. This is absolutely untrue," Koretsky emphasized.

Despite the regular attacks, Ukraine's gas transmission system continues to operate normally, with consumers receiving full fuel supplies.
