Ukraine is preparing for a series of contacts with the United States and European partners in the coming days, with Berlin set to become the center of negotiation activity, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced.
"We are currently preparing for meetings with the American side and our European friends in the coming days. Berlin will host many events," Zelensky noted.
He stated that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and the negotiating team will report on contacts already held. Separately, the President said, General Hnatov and representatives of the Ukrainian defense and security sector will work on the details of security guarantees for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Simultaneously, talks continue between Ukrainian, U.S., and European officials regarding the parameters of post-war recovery and "real development of Ukraine after the war."
Zelensky highlighted his own meetings with the American side and European leaders concerning the political framework for ending the war as key.
"Most importantly, I will have meetings with representatives of President Trump, and there will also be meetings with our European partners, with many leaders regarding the foundation of peace—a political agreement on ending the war," he said.
The President emphasized that Ukraine insists on substantive guarantees that will prevent a recurrence of aggression by the Russian Federation.
"There must be a guarantee—a guarantee primarily that Russia will not return to Ukraine with a third invasion," Zelensky stated, thanking allies for their support: "Thank you to all partners who are helping us—helping Ukraine."
He added that the Ukrainian team in Berlin will work "as actively and constructively as possible" in the coming days with all partners "who can truly make this agreement a proper one."
