Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a video call with US presidential representatives Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner to discuss security guarantees and ongoing peace efforts.
US Senator Lindsey Graham and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also joined the conversation.
The officials discussed Ukraine's proposal for an Easter ceasefire. Zelensky emphasized that silence during the holiday could serve as a powerful signal to the world that diplomacy can succeed.
Participants also explored ways to strengthen diplomatic efforts, outline possible next steps, secure robust security guarantees, and involve European partners.
"We agreed to strengthen security guarantees, and I have already instructed our team to promptly update the documents to ensure strong guarantees for Ukraine, a realistic prospect for post-war reconstruction, and a workable framework," the president stated.
Zelensky thanked the US representatives for their work in finding appropriate solutions, adding that Ukraine values all American efforts aimed at establishing a just peace.
"I expect the teams to work substantively in the near future so we can all feel the progress. The tripartite format is important, the leadership format — all of this is necessary," Zelensky noted.
