Ukrainian Defense Forces on November 11 struck the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Orenburg region of the russian federation. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
"As part of reducing the enemy's offensive potential and complicating the supply of fuel and ammunition to occupier military units, on November 11, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the facilities of the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in Orenburg region of the rf," the General Staff's message stated.
According to the military department, the plant produces more than 30 types of petroleum products - gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, oils, etc. The design processing capacity is 6.6 million tons of oil per year. The enterprise is involved in supplying the russian occupation army.
The General Staff confirmed explosions and fire on the facility's territory. According to preliminary information, one of the primary oil processing units (AVT) was hit. The strike results continue to be clarified.
Analysts from the "Kyberboroshno" project detailed that a visbreaking unit was hit as a result of the attack. Construction of this facility continued from February 2014 to October 2015 and cost 5.5 billion rubles.
The unit is designed to produce M-100 grade fuel oil, increase the depth of oil processing, and to free up straight-run gas oil for the hydrocracking unit. Experts note that this is a key stage of the oil refinery's modernization, which allows obtaining more light petroleum products - diesel and gasoline, increase processing profitability, reduce environmental impact, and ensure stable operation of the hydrocracking chain.
