U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, during which they discussed the war in Ukraine and trade issues, and agreed on mutual state visits.
Trump announced the call on his social media platform, Truth Social, and the Chinese Foreign Ministry also issued a statement. The conversation took place on the evening of November 24, 2025.
"Just had a very good phone call with President Xi of China. We discussed many topics, including Ukraine and Russia, Fentanyl, Soybeans, and other Agricultural products," Trump wrote. The American president noted that he had "made a good and very important deal for the Great Farmers," adding, "Our relationship with China is extremely strong!"
According to Trump, the call was a follow-up to a meeting between the leaders in South Korea three weeks ago. "President Xi invited me to visit Beijing in April, and I accepted the invitation. I, in turn, invited him for a State Visit to the U.S. later in the year," the U.S. president said.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that the "Ukraine crisis" was discussed during the call. "President Xi noted China's support for all efforts conducive to peace and expressed hope that the various parties will bridge their differences and reach a fair, lasting, and binding peace agreement as soon as possible," the ministry said in a statement.
Xi Jinping also raised the Taiwan issue, emphasizing that Taiwan's return to China is a key component of the post-war international order.
