On Tuesday, March 24, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on the western and central regions of Ukraine. Lviv suffered the heaviest blows, with strikes recorded in residential neighborhoods and the city's historic center.
As Hvylya reports, regional administration heads, mayors, and local media confirmed the attacks.
According to Lviv Regional Military Administration head Maksym Kozytskyi, residential buildings caught fire on Soborna Square, Brativ Rohatyntsiv Street, and Chervonoyi Kalyny Avenue in Lviv. Falling debris also ignited a private house in the village of Sernyky within the Bibrka community.
Preliminary reports indicate seven people were injured. Police rushed a 51-year-old woman to the hospital with shrapnel wounds to her legs, while another victim sought medical help independently. One person remains in critical condition.
The strikes damaged UNESCO heritage sites in the city center. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi confirmed that both the downtown area and residential districts were targeted.
"Another enemy drone hit a residential building in Sykhiv, on Chervonoyi Kalyny Avenue," Sadovyi wrote on Telegram.
The attack and falling debris halted tram routes 1, 2, 3, 8, and 9 in Lviv. Transit authorities diverted several bus routes through Svobody Avenue, Mitskevych Square, and Pidvalna Street.
Other cities also came under fire. Air defense systems intercepted a Russian drone in Ivano-Frankivsk, and explosions rocked Ternopil. Meanwhile, Vinnytsia faced a massive drone barrage, with the air raid alert lasting nearly three and a half hours.
"An explosion occurred in Vinnytsia. Stay in safe places until the all-clear," Vinnytsia Mayor Serhiy Morgunov urged residents, reminding them not to post photos or videos from the scene.
