President Volodymyr Zelensky, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and General Andriy Hnatov held a telephone conversation with Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner.
Zelensky described the conversation as "substantive" and "constructive," reporting an agreement on further steps with the United States.
According to the Head of State, the parties discussed key issues that could hasten the end of the war and strengthen security guarantees. The topics included the risks of a new escalation by Russia and the need for mechanisms that should make it impossible for situations where Moscow fails to fulfill its own obligations to recur.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is committed to continuing to work honestly with the American side to genuinely bring about peace. He also noted that the interlocutors agreed on the next steps and formats of dialogue with America.
Separately, the President thanked Donald Trump for his "intensive approach" to the negotiations. He stated that further work should move to the team level, as not everything can be discussed over the phone.
Zelensky added that he expects a detailed report from Rustem Umerov and Andriy Hnatov to substantively work through the proposals, which must be effective for peace, security, and recovery.
