The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has officially confirmed the death of its chief spokesperson, Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini. Iranian state media reported that the high-ranking officer was killed in an airstrike launched by U.S. and Israeli forces on Friday, March 20.
Naeini had served as the official representative of the IRGC and the deputy for public relations since 2024. He was widely regarded as one of Iran’s primary strategists in the realms of "soft power" and psychological operations. Prior to his appointment as the group's lead spokesperson, Naeini directed the Corps' cultural centers and held seats on the boards of directors for the country’s largest state-aligned news agencies, including Fars and Tasnim.
His death comes amid a massive escalation in the regional conflict, which has seen the Iranian leadership suffer unprecedented losses over recent weeks, including several high-ranking government officials and senior IRGC commanders.
