Israel has launched a targeted strike against major Iranian gas infrastructure in an operation coordinated with the United States, according to Israeli officials.

In the wake of the attack, Iran issued an urgent warning calling for the immediate evacuation of petrochemical facilities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Israeli operation specifically targeted gas processing and industry facilities adjacent to the South Pars gas field in Bushehr, recognized as the world's largest natural gas field. The targeted zone is known to host joint operations between Iran and Qatar.

Journalist Amichai Stein, citing a source familiar with the details who spoke to the Jerusalem Post, confirmed that the strikes were strictly limited to gas infrastructure. A separate Israeli official further verified to the publication that the attack was fully coordinated with the US government.

The decision to target gas rather than oil infrastructure appears highly calculated. Strategic analysis suggests the Trump administration previously opposed strikes on oil facilities to prevent a subsequent surge in global energy prices and to avoid the dramatic imagery of burning oil fields, making gas facilities a more politically acceptable target for Washington.
