The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on March 25 that Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted successful joint operations targeting key Russian infrastructure, including the Novatek-Ust-Luga plant and a combat icebreaker in the Leningrad region.
Overnight on March 24, Ukrainian forces struck the Novatek-Ust-Luga energy facility. Preliminary information indicates that the attack hit the plant's tank farm and oil loading equipment, sparking a fire on the premises. The General Staff noted that the facility is a crucial component of Russia's energy infrastructure, facilitating the export of petroleum products that fund the armed aggression against Ukraine. The full extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
In a separate operation overnight on March 25, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian vessel at the Vyborg Shipyard, also located in the Leningrad region. According to preliminary data, the target was the "Purga" patrol icebreaker of Project 23550, which was intended for the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Border Guard Service. Military officials highlighted that these vessels function as both icebreakers and fully equipped warships.
Additionally, the Ukrainian military reported successful strikes on Russian communication nodes in the temporarily occupied territories. The targeted command centers were located in Donetsk, Velyka Novosilka, and Hirnyk in the Donetsk region, as well as near Fedorivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. The General Staff stated that neutralizing these facilities significantly complicates the command and control of Russian combat units.
"The Defense Forces of Ukraine will continue to strike important enemy targets both in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and in the Russian Federation until the armed aggression against Ukraine is completely stopped," the General Staff statement concluded.
